The International English Language Testing System assesses the standard of English of students wanting to pursue further education in English-speaking nations. The IELTS is a test conforming to the highest international standards of English language assessment. It examines the 4 skills of the English Language: active skills – speaking/writing; passive skills – reading/listening. This test is administered jointly by the University of Cambridge ESOL exams, British Council, and IDP-IELTS Australia.
Scores
IELTS scores are rated along a band scale (0-9) where 9 indicates an expert user. Usually, the cut-off band scores are 6 (competent user)/7 (good user) for entry into foreign educational institutions. IELTS scores are increasingly being accepted in the USA.
