The Graduate Management Admission Test is directed by the GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Counsel), USA. It is a computer-based examination that is administered year-round at test centers throughout the world. The GMAT exam measures verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills developed over time. It is specially designed to help graduate management programmes assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. The GMAT exam includes Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative, and Verbal sections.

Both the Quantitative and Verbal sections are marked individually. Then a combined score is given (0-800).
The writing assessment tasks are rated (0-6) individually. Then a combined rating is averaged out.
